A new trailer has been released to go along side the announced GT5 cover, check out the new collaboration footage below between Gran Turismo and Mercedes-Benz.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) and Polyphony Digital Inc have unveiled the cover artwork of the forthcoming Gran Turismo® 5 for PlayStation®3 (PS3™), revealing the game’s cover star to be the new Mercedes SLS AMG.
The gull-winged supercar, with a top speed of 197mph, has been chosen amongst a total of nearly 1000 cars recreated down to the finest detail for players to race in the forthcoming title. The game – the first primary Gran Turismo title for PS3 – is the culmination of ten years of developing ultra-realistic driving experiences hand-in-hand with the motor racing industry.
Players will get to prove themselves in a global community of racers, taking on the world’s most iconic racetracks in cars, including the Mercedes SLS AMG, that will astound with their realism, design and physics. It’s going to be the drive of a lifetime.
Here it is! the cover for Gran Turismo 5, announced today on the official playstation blog the cover features the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG.It’s no surprise that this vehicle has been chosen, Kazunori has repeatedly said it’s the ‘most beautiful’ car of 2010.
The SLS is due to be officially launched at the Geneva Motorshow in March. A spiritual successor to the 1954 300SL Gullwing, the SLS is every bit as astounding a piece of automotive engineering as the original 300SL was in its heyday. The statistics are no less impressive either; the power behind those graceful looks is delivered by a 6.2litre V8 which propels the supercar from 0-60 in just 3.8 seconds and on to a top speed close to 200mph.
For the first time, Sony will be streaming their keynote speech live from this years CES to the general public.
The Consumer Electronics Show is the biggest event of the year for electronic manufacturers to show off their latest gadgets, ideas, products and pricing strategies for the coming year or so. This year Sony and others will be pushing 3D TV technology in a big way, why is this important? well as we know the Playstation 3 is capable of displaying 3D images with a firmware update.
This could bring about true 3D gaming in the future and possibly a 3D version of Gran Turismo 5 for the Playstation 3, providing that you upgrade to a new swanky 3D capable TV set.
You can watch the live feed here, to catch the official announcements as they happen. We will of course bring you up to date info with any news that is related to gaming entertainment and Gran Turismo.
As I’m sure your aware by now the Asian game show (AGS) was in full effect over the holiday period and featured new information regarding Gran Turismo 5, with the emergence of Madrid and Rome City circuits as well as new video content regarding NASCAR, WRC and Super GT.
In the latest video to surface, we get to see a hands on with the Ferrari 458 Italia on Tokyo Route with the Toyota FT-86 and the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren also making a appearance, the video quality isn’t the best but it does give a indication of cockpit details and sound effects to some degree.
As 2009 draws to a close we look forward into 2010 to see what racing games will be coming our way, just what is available? after a great year with titles such as Forza 3, Need For Speed Shift, Dirt 2, Supercar Challenge and countless PC racing games and mods, just what is coming in 2010.
Well probably the biggest is Gran Turismo 5 as I’m sure you all know but there are plenty of others to look forward to on all console formats, suited for a wide variety of tastes.
Here is a select few to look forward to in 2010, in no particular order.
Reported by the examiner, insider source for everything local, the official Playstation magazine will have a world exclusive cover story on the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 in their February 2010 edition.
On the cover is a Ferrari Enzo with a heading, New, drive, race and wreck this Ferrari the cover also shows that 1000 cars are available to drive in full HD! Just what constitutes a world exclusive is not clear as Magazines have had big cover story’s before but sometimes the content has turned out to be news that is already well know across the Internet.
The track that the Ferrari is on looks like, or very similar to the Tokyo road course featured on the TGS 2009 demo, this could be a in depth report based on that demo or a completely new look all together with fresh details not yet seen, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Look for the February edition to hit shops near you some time in January 2010.
A new trailer featuring the city locations of Madrid and Rome were on show at the Asia Game Show on Christmas day.
Kazunori Yamauchi held a presentation showing the latest trailer that featured the two city courses as well as new footage from the NASCAR and WRC disciplines, the presentation also highlighted some of the features that we can expect to see in the finished game which can be seen in the video feature from Dailymotion.
Finally Kazunori took to the wheel and showed us his driving skills in the Toyota FT-86 on Toyko route. The presentation is in five video sections courtesy of Dailymotion, you can check out all the videos from their site.
The festive season is upon us and it’s time to relax, right? GT Forums would like to wish all racing game fans a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year. Normal news updates will continue in the new year where we can look forward to the release of Gran Turismo 5, finally!. It’s been a long time in development as you all know but I’m sure 2010 will be a very happy year for all Gran Turismo fans.
You can still keep up with the action and discuss the latest topics, news and events in our forums over the holiday period.
More evidence of the upcoming release of Gran Turismo 5 can be had on the official GT site, from the 29th of December 2009 you will no longer be able to purchase premium content on GT-TV, available in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.
However free content will still be available for the time being, this move is probably in preparation for exclusive and new content for GT5 when released next year as stated on the site. Nothing we wouldn’t expect but it is indeed more confirmation that GT-TV will be making the transition over to GT5 soon!
“Watch for a more robust content lineup for Gran Turismo TV in Gran Turismo 5 when it launches in 2010.”
